Today is my favourite day of the week, its another Fuel Your Body Friday! Fridays just aren’t the same day of the week that they used to be since kids have come into the picture. So power yourself up for your weekend of activity with this Chocolate Monkey Smoothie, or Chunky Monkey around our house (I hope there isn’t any Ben & Jerry’s copyright infringement there, its just a nickname, really).
This month I’m partnering with Baby Brain Organics to bring you some great smoothie recipes. Baby Brain Organics is run by Amy who is also a mom and by my standards a health guru. They make BABY and KIDS powder boosters that you can add to your kids’ regular meals, which makes getting healthy nutrients into them (the kids) a lot easier.
The Chunky Monkey is our third smoothie in the Fuel Your Body Friday series. We started off with a light and refreshing Watermelon Smoothie. Since the fall has been gorgeous we have been trying to hold onto that summer feeling for as long as we can, the Watermelon smoothie totally fit the bill. Last week we tried the Bees & Berries Smoothie and we really haven’t let that one go. We have kept it in our regular rotation because we love it so much. The Chunky Monkey was made in lieu of dessert one night, here is the recipe, we used the dates but did not add ice in ours. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
2 bananas (ideally frozen)
2 cups almond milk
2 Tbsp raw cacao powder
2 Tbsp Baby Brain Organics
2 Tbsp almond butter
5 dates (optional)
1 cup ice (optional)
Directions: Blend and Enjoy!
Makes 4 smoothies
Follow along with the Fuel Your Body series and save these recipes to make for you and your kids. At the end of the month we’re going to have a Baby Brain Organics giveaway for one lucky Shine On Mom friend.
A big thank you to Amy at BBO for giving us these recipe ideas and the Baby Brain Organics to put in them.
CHEERS to you and all you do to keep your body healthy and strong!
