A Note from Shine On Mom:
I recruited an expert in kid fashion to provide you with some great ideas for summer attire and accessories for your little ones. Mini mioche is a friend of Shine On Mom and I couldn’t be happier to be introducing you to a really cool organic clothing line for kids, designed and made in Canada. Not in Canada? No worries. Order online and ship anywhere in the world. Not only is Alyssa an amazing small business owner she is a mom to adorable kiddos Emi and Weston. Here are her favs for her kids this summer.
After this long, bitterly cold winter, I couldn’t be happier to finally get some warmer weather. I always have said that I wasn’t meant to live in Canada as I am the biggest wimp ever when it comes to the cold. Sunshine and 20 degrees above zero is more my speed.
With longer days already upon us, I have begun to put together my list of summer must-haves for the kids (and have even managed to tick some things off already). Here are just a few staples that are at the top of my list:
If you aren’t familiar with this shoe brand yet, you need to be. Simply put, they are awesome. They are super light and totally waterproof. They look totally cool on, I even have a few pairs. They are comfy and durable and they don’t get smelly when feet sweat. When my kiddos get them filthy at the park I just spray them down with the hose when we get home. I’ll be getting them each 2 pairs (at least).
My kids are into sunglasses and I am good with that since doctors recommend having kids wear protective eyewear when in the sun from as early on as possible. Babiators are my go-to glasses as they are pretty much indestructible (and the company offers a warranty on them for up to a year from purchase in case your little one does somehow manage to destroy them).
Let’s face it, there are a lot of really dorky looking sun hats out there and yet, this is something you have to put on your kid to protect them from harmful rays. I really love the hat brand Tirigolo for a few reasons: it is made in Canada (love that), they offer simple prints and solid options in many neutral colours and they have a few cute styles that look great on. My favourite are the classic bucket and ball hat. The ball hat in particular is amazing as it has a toggle at the back so you can adjust it to make it fit your little one’s head perfectly.
This Toronto company locally produces an all natural suncare line that is totally amazing. I get 2 or 3 at a time of both the suncream and the suncare stick for on the go convenience.
Even though it’s summer, we know we can expect some rainy days and when they hit I grab both kids Kway jackets. Not only do they look cute on but the kids love that they can also wear them as a little hipsack (yup, just like when we were kids) and this season they offer them in super fun, neon colours that brighten up any grey day.
Last but not least is their summer clothing and of course both of my kids wear a ton of mini mioche.
My favourite items for Weston from the summer collection are the simple lush hoody, the buck short which we live in, the breezy tank (he looks so cute in a little muscle tank), and the printed ball tee.
For Emi, my must-haves are the printed empire dress, the baggy empire tunic (I want one in my size), the girly ball tee and the paper bag short.

On a day like today its easy to think about gearing up for summer, time to get my kids clothing organized! Thanks for your help Alyssa!! As I’m writing this my daughter is pointing out all of the items she’d like me to buy.
